Bird Box has been a standout hit for Netflix since its release in December.
So, naturally, everyone’s on the hunt for ‘the new Bird Box’. Thank God we think we might have actually found it. Just as well, as we’re not sure we could have coped with your disappointed faces.
So listen up: Velvet Buzzsaw is the next big thing to keep an eye out for on Netflix. You got that?
The terrifying horror stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Toni Collett, John Malkovich, Rene Russo and Zawe Ashton, and is about a series of paintings by an unknown artist that appear to be haunted. But not haunted like the eyes just seem to follow you across a room, or summat. Haunted as in the paintings seek revenge of those who have allowed their greed to get in the way of art. Enter Jake’s character Morf Vandewalt…
The art dealer comes across the pieces when Zawe’s character, Josephina, finds them in the artist’s apartment after he dies.
Unfortunately, Gretchen – played by Toni – also feels the wrath of the artist when she’s killed by one of the pieces. And the worst part is, no-one realises; everyone believes her lifeless, blood-soaked body is all part of the exhibition.
“We’re trending on Instagram. It’s a major hit,” Josephina says.
Oh - and we bet our life savings (approx. £13.78) that this will be the biggest Halloween costume of 2019...
The film sees Jake, Rene and director Dan Gilroy team up again for the first time since they worked together on 2014’s Nightcrawler.
