Here's a look at the horror movies hitting theaters and TV screens in the month of November, including Doctor Sleep and the bizarre Koko-di Koko-da. October, the month most associated with the horror genre due to the Halloween holiday, may be over, but that doesn't mean options for new horror movies to watch have dried up. Perhaps more than any other genre, the flow of horror films never really stops, owing in large part to the extreme loyalty of the horror fanbase.

Last month saw the arrival of blockbuster sequel Zombieland 2: Double Tap, arthouse horror entry The Lighthouse (starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe), forgettable "killer app" outing Countdown, and an animated take on the always macabre Addams Family, just to name a few. Without any further ado, here's our selection of the best new movies horror has to offer in November 2019.

Doctor Sleep - November 8

The obvious big kahuna among November's horror offerings is director Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's novel Doctor Sleep. A sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep's marketing put it right in the shadow of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, but thankfully, reviews are mostly positive. King himself also loves the finished product, which is saying something, since he hates Kubrick's Shining. Doctor Sleep stars Ewan McGregor as an adult Danny Torrance, who finds himself battling both a cult who feeds off people with "the shine" and the infamous ghosts from his past at the Overlook Hotel.

Koko-di Koko-Da - November 15

Based on the trailer (seen above) for Koko-di Koko-Da - a production of Swedish and Danish origin - those looking for a straightforward horror flick should probably look elsewhere. However, those horror fans who love taking in something strange and surreal should put Koko-di Koko-da on their radar. Sporting an 83 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, writer/director Johannes Nyholm's film concerns a couple who heads out on a camping trip to try and heal after suffering a prior tragedy. Unfortunately, for them, things quickly take a turn for both the sinister and the insane, and the couple is put through the wringer all over again. Koko-di Koko-da hits limited U.S. theaters on November 15, with a VOD and digital release planned for soon after.

The Shed - November 15

Arriving both in theaters and on digital November 15 is The Shed, a monster film from writer/director Frank Sabatella, the amusing trailer for which can be seen above. It's not quite clear just how comedic The Shed is intended to be, although it does seem to have some funny moments. The plot is pretty simple: Stan (Jay Jay Warren) is a young man bullied both at home and school. His life seems to get that much worse when he discovers a murderous monster residing in his family's backyard shed, but instead of fighting it, Stan's similarly put-upon friend Dommer (Cody Kostro) cooks up a plan to use the creature as a disposal method for their enemies.

Nekrotronic - November 21

To be fair, Nekrotronic isn't entirely new. It received a limited theatrical and VOD release back in August, but in November will be exposed to a much larger audience via its exclusive arrival on the popular horror streaming service Shudder. This one is quite clearly a horror comedy, and is directed by Kiah Roache-Turner, helmer of Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. In Nekrotronic, Howard (Ben O'Toole), a blue-collar worker for the city, finds his life turned upside down after he's deemed a necromancer. It turns out that an ancient demon named Finnegan (Monica Bellucci) is going around killing Howard's kind, and that he's the only one who can stop her. As if he didn't have enough work to do.
