10 Best Horror Movies Of 2019

6. It: Chapter Two

Little Monsters
Warner Bros.

This film was always going to make it to this list, with Andy Muschietti's sequel to his break out It: Chapter One in 2017 destined for greatness the moment it was announced. Based on Stephen King's mammoth 'It' novel, Pennywise the Dancing Clown comes back from the sewers to wreak havoc on the Loser's Club once again as adults.

Bringing back the blood, the scares, and the innate weirdness that makes It work so well, Chapter Two takes all the things that worked in the original and ramps them up to ridiculous levels - making everything bigger and badder than our first trip to Derry as Pennywise goes all out in securing himself a human snack.

It's a big long movie, with plenty of lore to unpack by an all-star cast that complement the movie's original child stars in excellent fashion. This whole thing is steeped in that grisly Stephen King glow of strangeness that's so often too difficult to bring to the screen, and is all the more powerful for it. Part coming of age saga, part straight up horror movie, and part touching exploration of the strength of friendship, Chapter Two was the perfect cap on a perfect story.
