One Cut of the Dead

Audiences around the globe have been raving about writer/director Shinichirô Ueda's zombie horror-comedy ONE CUT OF THE DEAD, which was released in its native Japan in 2017 and has been making the festival rounds. Thanks to Shudder, viewers in the US who didn't catch a festival screening will soon have their chance to see what all the fuss is about.

Shudder will be giving ONE CUT OF THE DEAD a limited US theatrical release on September 13th. That will be followed by a nationwide event on September 17th, then the film will be making its way to the Shudder streaming service.

Based on the play Ghost in the Box!, ONE CUT OF THE DEAD has the following synopsis:

While shooting a low-budget zombie film in an abandoned warehouse, the crew find themselves caught between actual zombies and a mad director who won’t stop rolling. If you think you know what happens next, think again. Filmmaker Shinichiro Ueda turns the film on its head more than once for one of the wildest, funniest, and most surprising zombie movies of all time.

Takayuki Hamatsu, Mao, Harumi Shuhama, Yuzuki Akiyama, Kazuaki Nagaya, and Manabu Hosoi star.

In anticipation of the US theatrical release, Shudder has released a trailer that can be seen below. Word is that ONE CUT OF THE DEAD is awesome and hilarious, so I look forward to checking it out.
